Opening Piet Mazereeuw breeding centre
Monday, 29 June 2009
Friday 26 June, Enza Zaden’s brand new breeding centre in Enkhuizen was officially opened in quite a humorous way.
The opening
Ten years ago, Piet Mazereeuw, nowadays chairman of the supervisory board, officially closed the door at the exact same spot. Now, 50 years after he joined Enza Zaden, he was the one to open that same door again. The authentic door led to the nameplate ‘Piet Mazereeuw veredelingscentrum’ (Piet Mazereeuw breeding centre), after which the breeding centre was officially opened.
The breeding centre
The Piet Mazereeuw breeding centre is centrally situated in the middle of the numerous Enza Zaden greenhouses and it measures over 3700 square meters destined for the offices of the Research & Development departments. The former R&D centre, nowadays the Oosterdijk building, is currently being remodelled. This will be ready in autumn and it will include a brand new laboratory.
