Successful Enza Zaden open day in Tarquinia, Italy
Friday, 3 February 2012
On Tuesday 10 January Enza Zaden Italia held its annual open day in Tarquinia.
New commercial varieties were presented to some 80 visitors coming from different parts of Italy. The event was mainly addressed to operators of the fresh produce processing industry (IV gamma) who were positively impressed with Enza Zaden varieties of endive (Parmance, Myrna, Flester, Matari), lettuce (iceberg, romaine, butter head and lettuce varieties of the brand name Eazyleaf®), kohlrabi, radish, fennel and cauliflower.
The real highlight of the event was the presentation of the brand name Eazyleaf® (lettuce varieties that are easy to process with an excellent shelf life). Everybody had the chance to learn about the many qualities of the lettuce varieties of this brand: Ezra, Ezabel, Eztoril and Eztela. These varieties are characterized by a very good shelf life and a very low sensibility of leaf discolouration after cutting.
The day continued with a conference where Professor Roberto Della Casa of the University of Bologna presented an in-depth marketing analysis. He was joined by Giuseppe Arnesi, General Manager, and Alessandro Schiappa, Breeder and Research Director, to talk about the technologic innovation behind Enza Zaden and about the history of the Italian branch.
