Enza Zaden offers certainty and reliability to the whole supply chain

June 3, the Enza Zaden housefair started dynamically. These first days, a great number of growers, grower associations, retail and supermarkets were present to meet new trade partners and to discuss the current and new Enza Zaden varieties among each other. Varieties that all perfectly meet de latest demands in the market. After all, supermarkets today reduce the amount of segments and growers choose even more so for certainty and reliability as a result of the current market prices. With the new varieties, Enza Zaden focuses even more on these characteristics: certainty and reliability.

Tomato

With tomato variety Torricelli, Enza Zaden is conquering a market position in the large truss segment. Two Dutch companies cultivate 23 hectares of this variety, both under artificial and non-artificial lightning. Both companies are pleased with the quality produced. Moreover, the keeping quality is tested at several retailers and even one of them stated that Torricelli retained its first class quality still after 18 days of storage. This is exceptional for a large truss variety.

Thanks to its excellent taste and its very high production, new tomato variety Annamay bridges the cocktail tomato market and the bulk production one.

Cucumber

Cratos is the summer variety that enables Enza Zaden’s comeback in today’s cucumber market. The variety performed extremely well in the first year after its introduction, resulting in a great interest in Cratos. It is expected that more than 80 hectares of Cratos will be cultivated in 2009. This variety is ideal in these times of crises as Cratos ensures certainty/stability combined with a labour friendly production.

 

Sweet Pepper

Friday 29 May, Enza Zaden introduced the yellow sweet pepper variety Zagato. Typical for Zagato is its uniform fruits (around 85 mm), the even colouring and its production that is at least as good as comparable varieties in this segment.
