Orange Summer is an improved Uchiki Kuri hybrid. Maturity is early (1-2 weeks ahead of the standard) and more uniform. It germinates exceptionally well under cold conditions. It is consistently higher yielding than the standard with an average 1,5-2,0 fruit per plant compared to 1 fruit for the standard. The storage capacity is similar. Orange Summer is mainly grown by organic growers, although conventional seeds are also available. In field conditions, we have noticed some tolerance to mildew when the fruit are ripening.
