The 'Ur Gurke' is a one-of-a kind organic cucumber. Dark green, with a rough skin, it is refreshingly crisp, moist and juicy. The 'Ur Gurke' comes wrapped in bio-degradable packaging. This classic cucumber variety is one of the world’s oldest vegetables.

The forgotten variety

This variety has been revived and introduced on the market thanks to a highly original research project dedicated to 'forgotten varieties'. Partners in this innovation project were Eosta, The University of Wageningen Greenhouse Culture, the Centre for Genetic Resources, LEI and grower Eef Maasen – all based in The Netherlands.

The organic 'Ur Gurke' is available as one variety. What will draw the consumers' attention to this cucumber variety is its authentic flavour and shape. Consumers demand for a cucumber that tastes like a real cucumber – like it did when they were a kid.

The 'Ur Gurke' is a true innovation in vegetables: original flavour, the highly original collaboration that brought it to the market and its environmentally friendly packaging – a first in the world of fruit and vegetables.
