Management of R&D operations

What are you going to do as a R&D Station Manager?

As R&D Station Manager, you are responsible for the management of the R&D operations at station level within South East Asia (Malaysia, Thailand and Philippines) in order to reliably deliver results for Cropping and various screening thus testing activities to members of the R&D team and other departments.

You are required to develop and manage the support services to R&D team at various sites for the successful conduction of experiments. As R&D Station Manager you develop a yearly planning in coordination with R&D team for the efficient utilisation and allocation of resources and come up with site needs, time to time, as per the R&D requirements and their management.

In addition, you will need to support the grow team in implementation of agronomy procedures together support R&D seed production team in achieving the targets. This also means to implement, and conduct review the SOPs for grow processes for the ease of operations and develop & support the grow teams in efficiency, cooperation and achieving targets.

As R&D Station Manager you can implement a business culture that motivates the grow team and maintains good collaboration and cooperation between site functional areas. You can identify talent and plan for the external institutional trainings on agronomy and crop management related aspects.

You will prepare annual budget at station level as per the year planning of R&D experiments and avoid uncontrolled deviation without management approval. As R&D Station Manager you implement regular reporting to build accountability and identify variances – develop action plans with the management teams to address variances. You review the quarterly budgets between Actuals and Planning for clear understanding and awareness. 

In addition, you reinforce policies set by Management and ensure that it is applied to all concerned sites (phytosanitary protocols, seed movement policies, safety policies, mandatory trainings, social responsibility and bring awareness on potential issues with external safety and environmental regulatory requirements as per the needs of R&D themes). Therefore, you develop relations with Government officials and public institutes in the aspects of R&D recognitions and collaborations.

Your power

As a R&D Station Manager, you have excellent knowledge of agriculture and grow management. You have effective communication skills (both orally and in writing) in English. You worked with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and you have advanced skills specifically in Excel. It is an independent role, with a clear understanding of the desired direction and priorities based on the organisation's vision and strategy. But you can coordinate the Asian teams to implement and share best practices. You are also very flexible, like to travel and possess a valid driver’s license.

In short, you:

  • Completed a post graduate program (Preferably in Agronomy or Seed Production); 
  • Have at least 5 years of relevant work experience; 
  • Have excellent communications skills in English; 
  • Have knowledge of Microsoft Office and have excellent skills in Excel; 
  • Possess a valid driving license; 
  • Are flexible, able to work under pressure and are willing to travel a lot.
