Westcape Biotech was originally a joint venture with the innovative Expressive Research, a biotechnological company that is active in the fields of cell and tissue culture and molecular diagnostics. On 28 May 2018, Enza Zaden Beheer B.V. purchased the other 50% shares in Westcape Holdings (Pty) Ltd. (further Westcape) from venture partner Expressive Research B.V. Westcape produces double haploids in pepper and cucumber for Enza Zaden, and executes different multiplication activities for several third parties. After the takeover, Westcape will be a full R&D station of Enza Zaden. It will contribute to realising our strategic vision, especially running specific activities supporting our breeding departments.
