Assistant Breeder Onion

We are looking for an enthusiastic and analytical Assistant Onion Breeder. The ideal candidate has worked or studied agricultural and is willing to develop and learn more about Onion breeding.  

What are you going to do?

Onion breeding takes time and effort. As an assistant breeder you will be responsible for this facility and manage the seed to bulb and bulb to seed cycles. Your duties include field trials care, crop planning and collaborating with the breeders, but focused on sowing preparation, breeding trials phenotyping, seed production, seed stock management, among other tasks. Additionally, you will execute and evaluate experiments to optimize and improve the cultivation protocols and the functioning of the greenhouse. You will work in an international team, within different disciplines; breeding, pathology, cell biology, molecular biology etc, under the supervision of a senior breeder.

Your power

You are an enthusiastic and creative entrepreneur with a long-term vision on breeding with excellent analytical and communication skills. Highly passionate in plant crops and experienced in this topic. Additionally, you are not afraid to make decisions and you function well in an international team. Requirements: • University degree in plant science or related fields of study • Highly valuated practical work experience in growing and working with plants and assessing trials is preferred • Good organizational skills • Flexible & able to adapt to changes • Fluent in English & Italian
