Senior Station Manager

San Juan Bautista, United States - Master (Fulltime)

Senior Station Manager

What are you going to do?

Are you a European with work experience in the US? Or are you an American with work experience in Europe? If you can make the connection between those cultures, we are looking for you.

We are seeking a professional like you to manage our R&D stations in the US, San Juan Bautista (Ca) and Myakka City (Fl), to support the efficient and effective development of varieties across all crops and drive excellence in overall product development. For this senior position, you don’t need to be an expert on all R&D topics, but the focus is on creating the team, engaging, and motivating people and acting as a facilitator. We are curious about your vision how to further develop our R&D stations.

You are directly responsible for optimal agronomic conditions and facilities and you oversee all R&D activities. As a Senior Station Manager, you work in close cooperation with Global R&D Management: Infrastructure Director, Crop Research Directors, and Biotech Director. You are co-accountable for the proper execution and coordination of breeding and research activities according to the agreements made with Global R&D Management. Being the R&D link between Dutch headquarters and our US stations, you are chairman of the local RDMT and R&D representative of US NCT. You are responsible for the team dynamics and ensure the culture of the local stations is in line with Enza Zaden’s values and principles.

You report to the Global Infrastructure Director, partner up with the other Station Managers, the Global R&D Management, Regional and Global Business partners to determine the priorities. You make yourself familiar with the needs of the R&D programs. You are directly involved in the crop breeding and research strategy and you identify and work on new projects/challenges and their implementation, processes (continuous improvement), and connect these projects and processes with stakeholders on the global RDMT level. You will experience a lot of freedom, possibilities to brainstorm, to come to new innovative solutions and to provide input for strategic plans toward Breeding management and Global Infrastructure.

As part of the R&D Operations Management Team frequent (inter)national business travel is part of the job.

Your power

The communication and people management skills you bring, help you to be the linking pin to Headquarters in The Netherlands and to build locally solid relations between the Crop Breeding, Research and Application Managers. You easily inspire and encourage open communication. Your long-term vision of station management is of great value to the future of Enza Zaden. As a Senior Station Manager, you know how to guide the strong identity of the team, the implementation of change and innovations and take pro-actively the lead. Based on your experiences you recognize opportunities, monitor performances closely and know how to have positive impact.

In short, your qualifications:
  • Master/PhD working and thinking level in an agricultural discipline
  • Seasoned professional in an international senior position:  6 to 12 years of relevant experience in the agriculture industry
  • A proven track record on delivering innovations and process optimizations but also on team development and coaching

  • Strategic thinking ability
  • Problem solving ability
  • Proficient in Spanish and English language
