At Enza Zaden we work every day to develop the best vegetable varieties. We don’t do this alone, but shoulder to shoulder with our customers. This week we officially opened our Innovation Center in Pijnacker to show how our varieties perform in real-world conditions.
“We can show growers how our varieties behave in practice”, says Sales Representative Bas Olsthoorn. “At the same time, we are also gaining more knowledge about our varieties. Knowlegde that our customers can use and our breeders can benefit from.”
The innovation center is part of a large greenhouse complex of the Duijvensteijn Company, close to many of our customers. We manage two greenhouses here, partly with lighting, where we grow approximately 300 tomato varieties. In addition the Innovation Center consists of a welcoming reception room, a demo room where you can taste our products and three modern meeting rooms.
Subsidiary Sales Manager Peter Buijks explains how the Innovation Center bridges the gap between breeding and practice. “In Pijnacker, for example, we grow our tomatoes on grafted stems, just like 99% of professional high-tech growers. This allows us to imitate the practical situation of our customers, and together with them, we learn about the properties of our varieties and how to optimally deal with them.''
Currently, the House Fair at our Innovation Center is in full swing. Are you curious about our portfolio and want to experience it in the new center? Book your appointment now: House Fair 2024 | 10 -14 June | Pijnacker (enzazaden.com)
