Cavalier is an early maturing short day onion variety adapted for production in most short day growing regions. In addition, the variety boast many attributes required by onion growers. These traits include, firm, uniformly shaped and sized bulbs with an appealing light brown skin colour, good bolting (flower stem production) tolerance and high yield potential. Strong seedling vigour makes Cavalier suitable for direct sowing or making of seedlings and sets for transplants. In addition, the variety has an erect growth habit with strong tops i.e. strong tolerance against general foliar diseases. Cavalier seeds are size graded and treated as standard.
