What are Cookies and how do we use them?

Enza Zaden uses cookies on its website. A cookie is a small text file sent with pages of a website and stored by your browser on the hard disk of your computer, smartphone or tablet.

Cookies help Enza Zaden to optimise your visit to our websites. Your privacy and the user friendliness of our website are of paramount importance. We cannot identify who is visiting our website from the cookies. We believe it is important that you know which cookies our website uses and for which purposes.

Below, you can read about the various types of cookies that are used by, and via, our website and for which purposes.


When you visit our website for the first time, you will see a pop-up that states that if you continue to visit the website, you agree to the placement of cookies on your computer. You also agree to the processing of the data obtained through these cookies by us and the third parties described below for the purposes described below. We use a cookie that registers that you have given this permission.

Functional cookies

These are cookies that are technically required for the operation of the Enza Zaden website. They relate to information that must be stored in order for the website to operate properly.

Analytical cookies

Cookies are placed via our website by Google and Sitecore as part of their services. We use these services to monitor and receive reports on how visitors use our website. Google and Sitecore place cookies to obtain the following information:

  • how often and when a visitor has visited our web pages (these cookies expire two years after placement);
  • to monitor from which other site a visitor arrived, which device was used (desktop, mobile or tablet), which search engine was used, which link was clicked, which keyword was used and the region you were in when you accessed the website (these cookies expire six months after placement).

We use the following Google statistical tools: Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager (to allocate pixels) and Google Data Studio. These cookies are kept for 90 days at most. Google uses this information to keep track of how you use our website. Google may provide this information to third parties if it is under a legal duty to do so or if third parties process the information on behalf of Google. Google may use the statistical information it has obtained for its other services. Sitecore does not have access to the data.

In addition, we use Hotjar cookies to understand our visitors’ needs better and to optimize our website service and experience by obtaining the following information:

  • how much time visitors spend on which pages, which links they choose to click, what users do and don’t like, etc.;
  • visitors’ behavior and their devices (in particular device's IP address, captured and stored only in anonymized form), device screen size, device type (unique device identifiers), browser information, geographic location (country only), preferred language used to display our website. 

Hotjar stores this information in a pseudonymized user profile. These cookies are kept for 365 days at most. Neither Hotjar nor we will ever use this information to identify individual users or to match it with further data on an individual user. Recruitment Analytics

VONQ B.V. (“VONQ”) is an external company that processes your IP-address which is personal data, because you are visiting our website. VONQ has provided up to four (4) code snippets to the host of this website to use. These are used as tracking cookies.These snippets are placed at:

1. The job overview page and/or
2. The job description page and/or
3. The application form and/or
4. The application success page.

The snippets process your IP-address and the clicks you make on the above-mentioned pages. Your IP-address is immediately anonymised with a raw copy kept for thirty (30) days for backup purposes. After this time, your IP-address is permanently deleted. 

This processing allows us to see anonymous statistics about the page views in VONQ’s platform created for recruiters ( The statistics that are collected:
-       Where visitors come from to get to the vacancy (referral website and country);
-       How many visitors view the vacancy;
-       How many visitors view the application form;
-       How many applicants submit their application.

The information is collected during sessions of one hour (60 minutes) when inactive. After this time of non-activity, a new session shall be counted and you will be seen as a new visitor. 
You may disable this process by changing your cookie preferences on your browser.

Advertisement cookies – Remarketing cookies

Enza Zaden uses Google Adwords and Google Adwords Remarketing/Doubleclick remarketing cookies to offer advertisements on third-party websites (including Google) to previous visitors of our website. This may be done through an advertisement in the Google search results or an advertisement on one of the websites affiliated with the Google Display Network. These cookies are kept for 90 days at most.

Session cookies

Enza Zaden uses session cookies, which provide insight into the online behaviour of visitors to our website so that we can adapt your services accordingly. These cookies are automatically removed once you have ended your internet visit.

Social media

Our website includes buttons to promote or share web pages on social networks and platforms such as Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn and Facebook. These buttons work using pieces of code that originate from these networks and platforms themselves. Cookies are placed using this code. Enza Zaden has no control over this.

Removing and blocking cookies
