In Germany we breed mostly radish, corn salad and herbs. For many years we worked closely with Juliwa Markensaat. In 2001 Enza Zaden acquired all that company’s vegetable breeding and sales activities. The breeding station is ideally located in the Pfalz, the very center of Germany’s agricultural area.
Enza Zaden’s corn salad varieties are widely used in important cultivation areas in France and our radish varieties have become the standard varieties in Italy and the UK. Furthermore our herb and rocket varieties are also very successful. The breeding research for these varieties is also performed in the breeding station in Germany. Enza Zaden Germany also sells its products on the Swiss, Austrian and Czech markets.
Added value is generated by our cooperation with our organic subsidiary Vitalis Biologische Zaden B.V. (www.biovitalis.eu), which has enabled us to expand our range of common vegetable seeds with organic seed of almost all the crops.
