Lettuce is a very popular salad vegetable whose market is ever increasing. Europe, USA and Australia have well established markets whilst Brazil, Mexico and Turkey are developing rapidly and have great growth potential for the future.
The key to our success and the key to being able to serve these ever expanding markets lies in our Research and Development. We currently have more than ten lettuce breeders located in the Netherlands, France, Spain, USA and Australia developing varieties for global and local markets. They strive for excellence in disease resistance, taste, texture and shelf life.
Enza Zaden has an extensive range of lettuce types. The most popular being Iceberg, Romaine, Batavia, Lollo Rosso/Bionda, Oakleaf, Butterhead, Eazyleaf and Babyleaf. Most of our lettuce types include varieties that can be grown outdoors and under protection. With our extensive range of varieties, lettuce can be grown all year round.
